Car companies can’t make a different vehicle for everyone’s needs. It just wouldn’t make economic sense. But we all know that there are things we like and things we can do without. Fortunately, there is a huge market out there with add-ons and modifications that we can pick and choose from to make our Ute more useful for our specific needs. And if we can’t find what we need, there is always the fabricators that can step in and make something unique. But for this article, let’s look at some of the things you can get, off the rack.
- Ute Trays: The tray is the biggest part of your truck and it is the where the work is done. But a big rectangular box is not going to suit everyone, Chances are that you would like some lockable spaces, or maybe the walls of the tray are in your way. Perhaps you need the tray to tip, or you might need a good system of racks. Today you can get a variety of swappable ute trays that can meet your demands much better than stock. It is worth a Google to see what you can find.
- Rails and Bars: It is a shame that some of these features are not stock offerings. Stepping out of your ute is made so much better when there is a rail to step down onto. Especially if you have a lift kit. These also help to keep mud off your paint. On the front of your car, you should consider having some bullbars fitted, even if you aren’t hitting any heavy brush, they can save you a lot of damage in a low-speed impact.
- Racks: A tremendous amount of usefulness can be added to a ute by the addition of storage racks. They make units for the top of the cab, and there a quite few suppliers of racks for cargo in the tray area. Those luggage racks on the cab are infinitely useful as they keep some of the more delicate items out of the way. And with a proper rack system overhead, you can carry much longer items safely. Racks also provide some degree of rollover protection.
If your truck is for work, and you got it to serve you, then don’t hesitate to get rid of the things you don’t need and add the stuff you do. It is better than worrying about damaging your rig every time you take it to work. If you buy the right pieces, you will be able to remove them just as easy when it comes time to sell.
